What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based practice that utilizes the principles of behavior to support the individual in building skills. ABA therapy has typically been used in high doses (30-40 hours per week) for people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Instead of subscribing to a high-dose model, KC Behavioral Health assesses your child and recommends a dosage of therapy specific to your child’s needs. During 1:1 in-home sessions, Tate promotes skill building by incorporating your child’s interests and motivation and utilizing modeling, rehearsing and positive reinforcement systems. Although ABA therapy has historically been provided to children diagnosed with ASD, research demonstrates strong outcomes for children diagnosed with ADHD, as well.

In-home ABA therapy occurs in the child’s natural environment and allows the opportunity for the child to apply skills in their most meaningful environment. In-home therapy also provides KC Behavioral Health with the opportunity to teach caregivers the necessary skills to encourage continued learning, even when therapists are not present.
